The compact unit for engine room monitoring of diesel and gas engines is a reliable motor protection system to measure the opacity of the engine room atmosphere and the engine room pressure.
Water in Oil Sensor:
The water in oil sensor is suitable for the detection of water penetration in a hydraulic oil or lubricating oil circuit
The sensors consist out of a metal housing, with embedded elements, which is and safe against disturbances from foreign circuits.
Bearing Distance and Temperature Monitoring System:

Crank-Case Protection System:
The Crank-Case Protection System is designed for monitoring of bearings of 4-stroke diesel engines. A thermoelectric measurement between the rotating shaft (e.g. via brushes) and the engine block is transformed into a CPS signal designated for engine condition monitoring.
Working principle of the sensor is a capacitive measurement of the water content in the oil. The physically measured value is called “water activity”. New oil has the characteristic to bind a certain amount of the dissolving water. The maximum water concentration in the oil is the so-called “saturation point”. If this saturation point is exceeded, the surplus water can lead to corrosion in machines. The sensor supply a limit at 50 % and 90 % of saturation for an early alarm
Monitoring the bearings in large 2-stroke marine diesel engines warns in the event of a critical rise in temperature and / or high bearing wear, which can lead to sudden damage or accident at sea. Our monitoring system type BDMS / BTMS provides a compact solution for this kind of bearing monitoring. It is a combinable system for temperature monitoring and for monitoring of bearing condition.
The oil mist-detector that was developed for monitoring 4-stroke diesel engines.This series is available in different versions and characterized by lowest installation cost and easy installation on the crankcase ventilation tube. The MEV283 is the next generation of an oil mist-detection-system as evolution supplying marine 4.0 functionalities. In its functions, the device is fully compatible with the former type MEV 282 and has extended functionality.

The Dr. E. Horn GmbH & Co. KG has expanded its range of water-in-oil sensors with a version that provides Marine 4.0 capabilities and a low-cost version.
The Marine 4.0 version offers the customer LAN, CAN and analog interfaces as well as relay outputs. The signals can be programmed and important events are saved in the event memory. The low-cost version provides two factory-set alarm signals via a cable outlet. The AW value (PPM) of water in oil is measured as a function of the oil temperature. The sensors are class-approved.
