Products and services

HEICO-LOCK® wedge locking systems provide maximum reliability for bolt joints even under extreme vibration or dynamic loads. The effectiveness has been proven by the latest standards DIN 65151, DIN 25201-4 & NASM 1312-7. An important feature distinguishing it from other systems is using tension rather than friction. The systems work at low and high preloads including when using lubricants, very easy to be installed, removed and re-used.

HEICO-TEC® tensioning systems meet all requirements of ISO 898-2 thus can replace any conventional nut with same strength. Easily, fast and reliably assemble large bolted joints without electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic tools. All you need is a torque wrench. High preload force is reached due to torsion-free assembly. Controlled friction characteristics ensure tightening and repeat accuracy better than +/-5% which are confirmed by DNV GL. Losses from settlement do not occur and full capacity of the joint is achieved. The systems can be re-used.

HEICO-LOCK® Wedge Locking Systems

The primary feature of HEICO-LOCK® Wedge Locking Systems is utilizing tension instead of friction. When the bolt is tightened, the external radial teeth of the washers embed themselves in an inter-locking fashion with the respective mating surface. If the securing system is subject to vibration or dynamic stress, movement is only possible between the internal washer surfaces. An expansion in thickness of the washers as a result of loosening lead to an increase in the clamping force.

HEICO-TEC® Tension Nut

The HEICO-TEC® Tension Nut is unique in the fact that the pretension force of the large main thread is distributed to many smaller pressure bolts. Because the pressure bolts are smaller, a conventional torque wrench can be used to achieve the correct pretension force. This eliminates the need for complex, bulky, or heavy tools and makes securing large bolted joints more convenient and easier with a torque wrench.

News & Innovations

An optimization of internal processes had considerably increased the corrosion resistance of HEICO-LOCK® Wedge Lock Washers made from stainless steel which withstood over 1,200 hours in the neutral salt spray tests according to DIN EN ISO 9227. Coating systems with a corrosion resistance of over 1,000 hours are also available on request for HEICO-LOCK® Wedge Lock Washers made from steel.

It was decided that a complete change of a clapper suspension system, which cost €60k would lead to a marked improvement in sound quality and aid the general protection of the St. Peter's Bell in the Cologne Cathedral. A special HEICO-TEC® Tension Nut was mounted on the bell yoke, fastening the clapper and securing the whole bell. On All Saints' Day in 2018, St. Peter's Bell rang once again after almost 18 months of silence!
