SICK’s Process Automation division offers sensors, tailored system solutions and services for analysis and process measurement technology. When measuring emissions, they monitor the legally prescribed gas components, record dust and particle emissions and measure volume throughput. The ultrasonic technology by SICK is leading in the precise flow measurement of natural gas in the pipeline distribution network as well as for process gases and steam.

Products and services

FLOWSIC600-XT: Recording the volume of gas before it enters a ship’s engine provides necessary information on gas consumption. The ultrasonic gas flow measuring device, which combines up to two high-precision gas flow meters each with four measurement paths in the one housing, offers both of these benefits and can also be used for fiscal billing purposes. The device has a compact, rugged housing and works without issues, requiring very low maintenance.

MARSIC: The ship emissions measuring device from SICK is an innovative solution for reliably measuring emissions on ships according to MARPOL Annex VI and MEPC. 259 (68). MARSIC is type-approved by CCS, DNV GL, ABS, BV, NK, KR and Lloyd’s Register for this application and measures both SOx and CO2 upstream and downstream of the scrubbers, and NOx upstream and downstream of SCR (selective catalytic reduction) plants. In addition, it can also be used for process measurements such as CH4 in LNG (liquefied natural gas) and dual-fuel engines.

Laser Scanner from SICK

The MRS6000 3D LiDAR sensor detects and measures objects in multiple dimensions. It gathers large quantities of data on multiple scan layers, providing gapless scans at a fine angular resolution. For: security, building monitoring, passenger lock people counting, rear space monitoring, traffic monitoring systems. The 2D laser scanners in the LMS1xx series measure reliably with modern multi-echo technology – even if it is behind glass or exposed to adverse weather and environmental influences.

Object detection system at and on ships
SICK sensors secure locked access areas on board and visualize the length of stay, movement direction and movement speed of persons and groups and analyze the movement profiles of the public in real time. With SICK 3D LiDAR sensors, reliable man-overboard systems are implemented and help to save lives.

Hazard detection
It’s important to detect hazards in a timely manner. SICK sensors detect vehicles at risk of fire before the journey begins, enabling prompt withdrawal. Hazardous goods signs on trucks are automatically read and classified. Anti-collision systems prevent crashes with fixed and moving objects in the portal crane area.
