SKF BlueSonic Ballast Water Management System (BWMS)

SKF BlueSonic BWMS uses ultraviolet light and ultrasound to treat ballast water. It keeps the lamps clean automatically, removing the biofilm that clogs their surfaces, without the use of chemicals. There is only one mode for both IMO and USCG requirements, thereby ensuring always compliant ship operation. BlueSonic can be used at flowrates of up to 1,500 m3/h, meaning it can be applied to many different types of vessel. Full certification and commercialization is expected for early 2020.
