News and Innovation MMG // Marintec Shanghai 2022
Following the increased demand for efficient and reliable propulsion solutions the Germany based propeller expert Mecklenburger Metallguss GmbH (MMG) can present innovative simulation methods leading to high class propeller designs.
The research program worked out a modern numerical model basin focused on the most efficient propeller solutions aligned with customer´s requirements. Here propulsion efficiency and cavitation behaviour can be stated as the standard tasks. But beyond that the innovative simulation environment gives nowadays insights in possible long term cavitation behaviour. MMG developed a procedure to predict possible erosion risks evaluating the propeller hydrodynamics.
As even for merchant shipping the aspect of noise emissions becomes more an more important MMG did further steps in developing prediction and optimisation methods in order to make sure that MMG propellers will be the most efficient and the most quiet propellers within the fleets.
For the existing fleets all these innovations can be applied during a propeller retrofit project with the outcome of a new, more efficient and reliable future-pro of propulsion solution.
