Hybrid Module

Thanks to its new marine hybrid module, ZF simplifies electrification of new and existing ship designs. The key feature of the overall solution is a newly developed supporting frame – which, unlike the usual setup, dispenses with the need for a separate base for the e-motor and for an offset-adjustment coupling. This plug-and-play approach, which is unrivaled in the market, reduces installation space and considerably simplifies the installation of the module and the maintenance of the e-motor.

Complete hybrid propulsion system

ZF offers a complete hybrid propulsion system. In addition to expanding the hybrid transmission portfolio, ZF now supplements its existing scope of supply with electric motors, power electronics and controls. Their new parallel hybrid systems enable the additional installation of electric drives with power levels between 150 and 750 kW. As a result, the market can obtain the complete driveline from a single source that increase reliability, efficiency and quality.

Hybrid Thruster

The new hybrid drive is available as an azimuth thruster and is entirely based on the new ZF AT series. The hybrid AT 80 thruster closes the performance gap in more sustainable propulsion for a wide array of professional ship types as tugboats, ferries, large jack-up vessels, research vessels and many more vessel types with a performance range of approximately 900 kW to 1.600 kW.
