SCHAAF GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Erkelenz, Germany, is the internationally leading provider of hydraulic high-pressure tools and fastening elements. Founded in 1977 by Martin Schaaf, the company laid its first major milestone. It specialized in the production of bolt tensioning devices and hydraulic nuts.

In 1990, long-time employee Dipl.-Ing. Ralf Koellges took over the company and developed SCHAAF into a globally operating technology leader with numerous patents and proprietary product lines. Today, the next generation leads the company with more than 200 employees across five locations: three in Germany, one in Switzerland, and one in China. SCHAAF supplies both customized special solutions and automated series products for industrial applications.

SCHAAF is listed as a certified series supplier by many renowned customers in the mechanical engineering, wind energy, power plant construction, and shipbuilding industries. All sites operate with a high level of quality, precision, and repeatability. Every product is manufactured in three-shift operation, with some processes being fully automated.

SCHAAF develops, produces, and implements joining technologies in the field of fastening systems, focusing on customer value, material and resource efficiency, and continuous process optimization. This creates tailor-made solutions that promote economic efficiency and sustainability in equal measure.

One notable example is SCHAAF’s contribution to the construction of the world’s largest forging press, with a pressing force of nearly 60,000 short tons. In this internationally acclaimed project, SCHAAF acted as a system supplier for fastening components – including hydraulic nuts, bolt tensioning devices weighing up to 19 tons per unit, ExpaTen bolts up to 8.25 meters in length, and MSN systems. These key components ensure the safe, reliable, and powerful performance of the entire installation.

At the same time, GripCon connections without nuts, featuring a 60 mm diameter, were semi-automatically produced in large quantities. In this area, SCHAAF serves as a system supplier for a well-known manufacturer in the wind energy sector, with an annual volume of around 35,000 GripCon units. Through such achievements, SCHAAF reinforces its leading position as a trusted partner for demanding industrial applications.

With its TTG technology, the company offers a revolutionary, patented innovation in bolt connection design. Its structural properties enable significantly more compact and lightweight constructions without compromising safety or performance.
